Although Linux it’s quite a popular system with a lot of users, there is not an official version of Skype for Linux to date. Somewhat explainable, since Skype it’s a Microsoft product.
However, there is a beta version of Skype for Linux that works on the latest version of Linux and it works quite fine. There are some small issues, but most of them won’t affect the well being of Linux or the Skype app.
You can download the latest version of Linux accessing this link, or you can open the console and type:
sudo apt update sudo apt install skype
Hope it helps you use Skype on the Ubuntu operating system. If not, there are a lot more ways to install Skype on Linux, just check this link.
